How safe is it to eat from food vendors at Bear Creek ? Generally speaking, of course.
Just as safe as any other festival? There's a bunch of good stuff there, but it's great to take advantage of having a fire near your camp to make some stuff too. We made a huge pot of vegetable soup last year that fed all of us and our neighbors twice. I think the grilled cheese vendor is my favorite. I went and got one of those and a coffee everyday for breakfast last year. They have breakfast burritos and stuff too. You didn't even have to go in the fest for that because they were one of the vendors outside the gate near the lake.
Apparently, it took me a full 5 minutes to recognize Hakuna at brunch with his lack of hair (and he had sunglasses on)! We were in the same little circle and it wasn't until he said something to be did I recognize him (and jump him).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I may have found a way to create 1.5-2 extra vacation days, which would be enough for BC. Wish me luck and maybe I'll be pulling that double dip with Hakuna

Has anyone ever done the work exchange team for free admission? If so, how did it go? 15 hours seems like alot of work for a weekend, I feel like I'd hardly have enough time to enjoy the festival

I haven't looked into it, but that does seem like a lot. GA Tickets are $155 now, so that's like you are working $10/hour. I'd rather work BEFORE Bear Creek at any job for $10/hour and just save that money for a ticket.

OK I'm all but locked in on going this year! Just a little matter of wriggling around my finances and transportation options but the WILL is %110 committed.

How are the prices where food and adult beverages are concerned? Bonnaroo is the only camping fest I've been to in the past 6 years so I've only got that to compare it with. Would you say they're about the same, a little higher, lower?

At the same venue but for Blackwater Music Festival there were no limits on how much beer you brought in to camp. And they had trash/recycling right by the festival entrance so you dumped it on the way in.
No limit on how much alcohol you can bring and prices on alcohol at fest are a little cheaper than Roo and other fests. I think beers inside fest were $6 or 7 and mixed drinks were $8-10. Food prices are about the same as any other fest...maybe cheaper in some cases. If you go VIP, one of the perks is cheaper alcohol( I want to say like $3 or $4 off each drink).

LOL am I that obvious of a booze hound! I didn't even ask about how much beer I was allowed to bring but it was something I was wondering about! Awesome = having your questions answered before you even ask! Thanks!
Nah. We're all thinking the same thing. We ran out of beer at Blackwater and had to buy some from the country store. VERY decent prices. Suffice to say once you go to a festival here you will fall in love with the venue.

You can put your ticket on the payment plan, but I agree it does sound like a lot of time spent working. Dale has done this and could give you more details.
I do not think VIP is worth it.
Inforoo meet up? Some of these Inforoo people put out an awesome camp and we could meet up there on Thursday or so. Details to come.
Yes, Matt, it gets COLD! Real cold!
Food and drinks are cheaper than Roo for sure and there is an on site convenience store with decent prices.
Yes, if you have not been to this venue, you will fall in love with it. It might change the way you few a camping festival.
SOSMP has been cutting back on things allowed into the fest grounds, like rage sticks and backpacks. This happened after the Boston bombing. Will most likely not be an issue, but just giving a heads up. I will check with the forces that be and clarify this.
I haven't done VIP at Bear Creek. It seems pointless to me too. Now a friend of mine got a free VIP pass last year, and I did tell him "buy me a beer, b*tch!" whenever I ran into him.
I'd like to throw it out there that I'm back to being a maybe I need to see exactly how many vacation days I have left after the summer fests to spread over MOEMS/BC/my sister. I might do Thanksgiving with my sister (which I have anyways), which would make BC a viable option...
If I go, who will cuddle with me and keep me warm???
And Monky, last year I only ate one meal and maybe 3-5 beers inside. Camp was soooo close that it was easy to go back. (and vagina vodka is awesome, too )

There will be lots of cuddling, in the Cuddle Dome.
At least you have a weekend in between the two fests. Last year I did Voodoo > Fun Fun Fun Fest > Bear Creek back to back to back weekends. I made it out alive fine and was even able to work a few day days in between. Being at work for 5 days straight after Bear Creek was the hard part. I didn't want to be at work. I wanted to be in never ending weekend music festival land.

the past two years in grad school i did both voodoo and BC. can't imagine throwing FFF in the mix as well. had to really buckle down on school stuff during that time, even studying some on the road and during the fest.
so worth it. and hey I graduated so wassup.
actually some of the best studying of my academic career was done in the back of my car while my friends drove between Phish shows. I always rocked those tests when I came home. I guess live music is my greatest motivator.
