Saw the Deerhunter page and thought Damon deserved one too. He's coming out with a solo album and will tour with it along with Blur and Gorillaz songs.
I'm totally down for hearing DARE and The Universal at Roo!
His last full set(s) were at Sundance with: Lonely Press Play Everyday Robots Hollow Ponds El Manana Hostiles You and Me On Melancholy Hill To the End
I'm assuming this will be the main part of his setlist plus more songs with gorillaz and blur, seeing that little dragon and bobby womack are at the farm
Music Midtown: 2011 Bonnaroo: 2012 - 2016 Forecastle: 2013 Rock al Parque: 2014 420 Fest: 2014-2018 Shaky Knees: 2015 - 2019, 2021 Seen tons of local shows since 2004.
I'd be stunned if he plays more than a couple blur or gorillaz tracks. His album is also pretty mellow and moody, so people expecting a mish mash of the best of those two bands will be pretty disappointed, IMO. Listening to blur and gorillaz records won't really help you here, as Damon isnt dusting off "Song 2" or "Country House" or "Clint Eastwood" for these shows.
This is a really great get. One of the best this year. Especially if he decides to draw from multiple wells and/or front a superjam.
he's got a slate of Euro shows coming up in March. As those are the first real shows he'll be playing, it will be interesting to see. Again, based on blur fan chatter and my experiences seeing Damon when he's toured other projects, im not expecting much outside his solo work and a couple of the more sparse blur and Gorillaz tunes, but fingers crossed.

Wasn't that one set basically a small acoustic one?
I don't know if we know enough to say it will be all that similar. If he's only playing 2-3 currently known slow songs I'm surprised Roo put him so high on the lineup.

That's what I'm thinking, I don't think they gave him a top 15 spot to play his solo stuff and one Gorrillaz and Blur song

Yeah, I can't wait to hear Song 2!
Not necessarily Song 2, which I can't lie would be awesome, but at least some of the hits, I mean, he didn't even break the top 20 on the Governor's Ball lineup

I'd like to think that he'll reinterpret some of his Blur/Gorillaz stuff to fit the sound of his upcoming album/tour. Honestly, I'd love to see him take more mellow, acoustic takes on songs like White Light or Parklife.

What's the connection with Little Dragon? I didn't see anything on Damon's wiki page. I'm really not familiar with anything but Gorillaz so I want to check him out.

This would make sense to me. We might hear some of the old songs, but in a new way. I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Do you think that Bonnaroo went to Damon Albarn and said "hey, we'll book you, but you need to tell us what you're playing so we can figure out your lineup placement?"

TBH they should have in this case. If you're saying he's going to do his full solo album and an acoustic version of Melancholy Hill at the end as a 'thank you guys for coming to my set' kind of thing I don't understand why that would be much of a draw.
I'm only guessing that Roo is assuming his set will have a few crowd-pleasers thrown in, so I'm going to as well. I'm not necessarily saying Song 2 or Feel Good but who really knows what is going to happen. I'm not convinced that Sundance set is gonna be what big crowds at Roo and Gov ball are going to witness.

Jesus.
Folks, Albarn is releasing a solo album, a very, very highly anticipated album. Everything he does is gold in his fans' eyes. This isn't a Blur set, or a Gorillaz set, it's a Damon Albarn set.
The idea that he should somehow be forced to play old material to appease fans of Blur or the Gorillaz is mind-numbingly stupid. If you don't want to see his solo stuff, don't go, because that is what 95% of his set will be.

Right, he'll play a longer set than what he did at Sundance, but it's not about to be the Damon Albarn Hits Review. The whole point of this solo album and tour was to do his own thing. If he draws on blur and Gorillaz material, it'll be the quieter keys and strings driven songs. He's not restructuring Coxon guitar rippers for this tour. The solo album is fantastic and if he's playing mostly songs off of that and a couple older tunes, I would hope the crowd isn't rubbish and appreciates it. He's got a band, its Seye, Pauli the PSM, Jeff Wooten and Mike Smith, but I seriously doubt that he just starts covering his other band's tunes. It should be an ace show, but if youre hoping for Parklife and Country House and There's No Other Way and Song 2 and that sort, you'll come off pretty sore.
