Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Anyone in this thread who falls behind on bills to attend a music festival really should get their priorities in check. I used to be terrible with money, and stupidly spent a lot of money in college attending music festivals and events I had no real business to attend. Yeah, the experience was fun a lot of the time, but current me would prefer more of a savings.
It's not so much that I'm behind on bills to go to bonnaroo. It's just this is my yearly personal vacation (kid free) and I take time off, save money to buy tickets, etc... and adding additional charges is hard for someone who was expecting and saved for 350 but now I need 410-420. At least, that's my personal take on it. Just hard to come up with the extra cash sometimes.

That I completely agree, especially given the way they botched this announcement. However, I was just saying one should probably be not skimping on their rent or other important expenses in favor of a getaway weekend.
It goes on sale when tickets do. One person will have to buy the groop spot ($150, but $100 is refunded when the rest of groop registers). That person will come up with a groop name and password so people can buy into that groop. The groop leader will also be sent all the parking passes and have to mail them to the right people. 1 groop pass per 3 people registered and paid. 24 people minimum I believe. When you get to roo you drive to groop, tell them which groop you are in, and they will tell you where to park.
edit: I think some time in early april is the last day to join a groop.
Also, please be creative with the groop name. I looked at the big board last year expecting gold and there was a whole ton of lame.
you know my groop will never give up the space camp name.

You know the great thing about budgets? You can budget your festival (and fest spendings) into it a year in advance. Plus, you never had to worry about rent/bills because they are already in the budget. I recommend it for those that aren't even going to festivals, but want to actually have savings and know where their money is going.

The thing I am wondering about is this: how many presale ticket buyers will be trying to sell their car camping pass if they have more than one in their group? My group has one extra so we are giving it to the couple going with us who are buying tickets next week but I suspect there will be people trying to sell there extra car companion passes (instead of just gifting then to others)

I want us to be neighbors. I wonder if we can request it?
You can request it, and they usually are accommodating. The only year I did Groop, our Groop leader requested to be by another Groop, and it worked out. Just had to email the Groop person at Bonnaroo. I don't have her email offhand, but it should be on the website (eventually, if not already).
I reeeeeally hope it does. And you'll find out why. And now I'm so upset I'm not going to be there to witness this.
Oh, and I'm still waiting to hear back about the BL spokesperson thing. But believe you me, I will proudly announce both my triumph or failure for you.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
if you're buying two beers a week, you aren't taking them home
two good beers at a bar is gonna run you $10-12
I'm thinking more in the "hey, rather than drinking the entire six pack you bought...drink four" kind of way. Or we could continue to parse the inane particulars of what was clearly a hypothetical example of one of the many ways where a person could save or recoup sixty dollars in a very short period of time merely by making an extremely minor and not at all inconveniencing change to their lifestyle. Either way.
this is Inforoo, so... inanity and semantics until forever?
So, assuming tent-only exists this year, what is the best/safest place outside the fest to park?
There is tent only. I am assuming if you drive you have to still buy a camping pass, but then you can trek over to tent only. It is on the accommodations page.
TENT-ONLY CAMPING
If you don’t have a vehicle, or if you don’t want to be camping next to your vehicle all weekend long, try our limited Tent-Only Camping areas near the Main Venue and Centeroo. Tent-Only Camping will be identified on your festival map. There will be no cars, motorcycles, jetpacks, hovercraft, nothing allowed in this area (in fact, all of these will be towed) other than you and your tent.
Tent-Only Camping benefits:
Nice and close to the Main Venue and Centeroo Close to General Stores, concessions and other services No cars or vehicular traffic in this camping area Here’s how it works: If you have a car, come in through the regular Tollbooths and park as if you’re going to camp with your vehicles. Then just leave your car behind and hoof it with your gear to the Tent-Only Camping area. You can not drive your car there to drop your stuff off, so pack light. It’s a distance – a backpack or small luggage cart might help. If you don’t have a car, you’ll still get your wristband put on at the tollbooth, then just follow the signs to Tent-Only Camping.
The space for Tent-Only Camping is limited, and is filled first-come, first-served (so, if you want this prime spot, get here early). If you’re last-come, no worries – you still have the camping space that goes with your vehicle.
So it's $60 for camping regardless. Effectively a $60 ticket price increase for GA Tier 1. The "sneaky" option would be to just get a day parking pass and hoof to tents only which is risky because day parking doesn't open until noon'ish Thursday and you really need to show up on Wednesday/very early Thursday morning to get a guaranteed spot in TO.
At $420 - $445 for GA in Tents Only I'm at 98% sure I'm sitting out the LIVENATION INAUGURAL BONNAROO (additional fees may apply, not all fees may be listed at this time)! Hopefully you folks will report that they have made very significant improvements to infrastructure in addition to an unparalleled lineup and I'll put this on my map for next year. But this year..no fucking way unless 1/2 the bands are all my favorite bands that I've always wanted to see.

You know more and more festivals have this fee now right? And Roo is still middle of the road in pricing for comparable fests. I think the water upgrades (Toilets, and Drinking. Idc about the showers) are worth the price boost.
I'm still worried as to how this is going to affect the vibez.
I have friends who bought pre-sale, and their vibez are still presumably going to be pretty chill.
But then some other friends in our group are going to end up paying $60 more for parking in the general sale, and their vibez will be decidedly not chill.
When we all get together, the individual vibez will have such a wide variance and it throws the whole group vibez off.
Anyone have any potential solutions to this? I'm picturing a weekend full of conflicting vibez and it's devastating. I mean shit, if I wanted harsh vibez I'd go to Coachella and watch 100k people take selfies and talk about celebrities. That's not chill. That's bad vibez.
Are you taking the opposite side just because? I don't see how being annoyed with an additional fee, if true, is so absurd. The rise in ticket prices suck, but one should expect that with increasing music festival popularity, rising costs, etc., but this is a completely arbitrary fee that is an unnecessary way to nickle and dime attendees.
It's funny that you mention "increasing popularity" and "rising costs" as reasons why you're okay with raising ticket prices. How do you know that's not what's contributing here? If there are more attendees, and they're taking more cars, then Bonnaroo needs to pay more to maintain the campgrounds, staff the tollbooths, hire parking help, etc. If you simply raise ticket prices, then you're charging everyone for that increased overhead - including those who maybe don't camp, who take shuttles in or day park. By adding the camping charge, you're actually making a very specific - and therefore non-arbitrary - effort to target what may be an area of increasing cost. Not to mention that it might encouraged carpools, which would again be beneficial for the festival.
It doesn't cost them a dime though because it is all volunteer work. They simply give out free wristbands to locals.
Maybe I'm lacking empathy here, but I kind of feel if going to Roo stresses out your finances that much than maybe you can try to find a more budget friendly vacation. Maybe a smaller fest?
Why would all the trust fund kids want to only hang out with people in their own class? Kinda goes against the whole spirit of the festival... Oh wait... forgot... it's all manufactured, false corporate b.s. now. Sad but true.
Honestly though, the years I've been I never had a day I didn't run into someone with a V.I.P. pass hanging out in G.A. to be around the "real" Roo crowd. Eat the rich!
I just realized I missed the deadline to redeem my pre-sale parking pass what do I do!
I would email them ASAP, I'm sure they can do something for you.
I just emailed them..I moved to NYC this week and things have been very hectic and I totally forgot! I got an automated email response but hoping someone actually emails me back and answers my question. This sucks.
I just realized I missed the deadline to redeem my pre-sale parking pass what do I do!
Like CKS said, definitely email them and don't take no for an answer. Giving only 3 days for people to redeem on a holiday weekend is a chickenshit attitude.
