Unless you want a riot, it is absolutely relevant.
So explain to me how it worked out that Roo decided to put TREY ANASTASIO, a former headliner, in a tent late night, when NO WHICH STAGE SHOW was going on? That Tent was by far the most packed it has ever been for any late night show ever.
That move, to me, proved that they are willing to put big names in Tents, just like they did last year as well.
And WE KNOW they put hip hop shows in tents late night.
^^Then you might want to consider Thursday being a legit possibility...
Don't see it. Thursday is and forever will be the "getting in day." It's the day for the up-and-comers. They simply don't put big names on thursday. They never have, I don't expect them to start now.

i think it depends on what kind of show kanye is bringing with him. if he has alot of stage props, dancers, lights, lazers, ect....could it WORK in a tent?

Kanye > Trey
Sorry dude, but it's true...
Kanye West has never headlined Bonnaroo though. Trey had done it TWICE when he was stuck in a tent. So your logic doesn't work.

Dudezer is absolutely right, Kanye is the most popular artist on the bill, and to think that won't relate to drawing a huge crowd, you are mistaken. How bout this, putting him on What stage latenight. Honestly i'd probably see him over MMJ, they just don't really do it for me.

As I mentioned before, Trey wasn't announced in advance, so there wasn't really a way to project capacity for that show. And yes, there is usually a night of hip-hop in a tent. However, Jurassic 5 and the Roots are both hip-hop acts that have played stages. It's not as if all hip-hop gets put in tents late night.
And from my last count, Trey has 0 Grammys, and limited appeal outside the jam community.

As far as dancers... maybe not.
But let's not forget that bands such as STS9 have no problem packing that tent with lights and props

Trey wasn't announced, but it was leaked 2 days before the festival so everyone who was there already knew.
Well with them switching up tradition so much these last few years, this could be the year for either a pioneering Which Stage show on Thursday or a late night What Stage... It's gotta be one of those two, if you ask me.

Well Bonnaroo is much bigger now than it was back when Trey was headlining, and Trey's popularity has waned a little more every year since Bonnaroo started.
Besides, I'm not talking a headlining slot as much as I'm talking a late night What Stage show AFTER the tent shows.

This is another reason he can't play a tent. From what I understand, he usually uses an orchestra, and a full orchestra + dancers + Kanye's ego = won't fit in a tent.
and, fwiw, I really don't care where Kanye is. Very slim chance I will see his show, unless it IS on the mainstage and there are zero conflicts so I can watch it from VIP.
However, I'm combining the logic of we know he won't be on the which stage late night, and we know Kanye's show is a night-time show.
The logical deduction here is he is in a tent late night.
If someone can show me that he won't be bringing the Glow in the Dark show to Bonnaroo, then I'll change my logic.

Are we really counting GRAB as a Trey show?
I dont.
man its got to be a glow in the dark performance..i cant imagine kanye agreeing to anything but. especially since this is what his whole tour is about and half of what intrigues me about his performance in the first place
Kinda weird, coulda sworn I saw Trey Anastasio that night. (not calling it a Trey show, saying they put TREY in a tent - with a band that was arguably a bigger draw than his solo act. his solo act didn't play amphitheaters in 06 like GRAB did).

Was there another one, then?
I wasn't the one that brought up the thing about Trey being in a tent, but, I did hear that there was quite a rush to the stage once word got out that he was playing.

1. Kanye West just won a number of Grammys, including album of the year. 2. Kanye West's production generally requires a lot of room, for dancers/an orchestra/his big head 3. Kanye West is billed 4th on the line-up 4. Kanye West is Kanye West (tautology!) Therefore Kanye West will not be in a tent.
That's a logical statement, I should know, I will have a BA in Philosophy 2 months from now.
