Have any of you seen Kanye's "Glow in the Dark" show other than the Grammys? Isn't it possible that the entirety of the concept is a glow in the dark jacket he could easily shed for a daytime slot at a festival with a huge national draw?
Bands make concessions all the time for festivals. The Flaming Lips being an obvious exemption, they brought a UFO and Wayne's 10 minute between song diatribes . There just isn't the logistics for the huge shows most bands want for their actual tourdates with people coming on and off the stage all day. Of course, on the What Stage Thursday they wouldn't have that problem...

Maybe hes a very elaborate troll! ;D Oh well, keep believing what you want, but this isn't the first time someones been listed on thursday and hasnt played, or the second, or the third....
i think some of you guys need a girlfriend.
I have a girlfriend, a feat an ignorant ass such as yourself probably couldn't achieve. If you are being sarcastic, i apologize, but if not, well this is how i feel about that matter.

Yea...I prolly need a girlfriend.
This is Bonnaroo though. Not ACL, not Wakarusa, not Allgood, not Langerado. Artists don't strip down their sets for Bonnaroo. If anything, they enhance them.

in the 34832482 articles that ive read about kanye the past few weeks or so, he has stated that he is going on a "Glow in the Dark Tour" so yes, I have seen/heard about it other than the Grammy's.

A few points, even though by the time I click post there will probably be another ten pages into the thread.
- The tour is very theatrical, over the top, and entertaining (would you expect anything else?) - I saw the grammy performance and videos of one of the first dates, and will be catching it in New York. While theoretically it could get stripped down for Roo, there would be no logical reason to do that. It is a stunning performance and will blow away fans and no fans away, if only visually.
- Kanye will be at a headliner time or later. I like the idea of an overlap a lot. He is fourth on the lineup for a reason. Bonnaroo is trying a lot of new things this year - for example a huge draw comedian on the main stage. Not sure why everyone thinks a new time slot is that unlikely.
- To put Kanye in a tent would not only be a huge mistake, but would be dangerous in terms of the size crowd it will draw. Ben Folds packed the which stage area and he doesn't headline arena tours. Kanye has AT LEAST the Which Stage if not the What.
I know this is Bonnaroo, but it is still a festival which requires a stripped down set design. Most bands don't even have the obligatory banner hanging behind them. It is still special, though. They make up for it in the music. 99% of bands not named The Police put their all into a Bonnaroo show. It's amazing, but it has little to do with set design or lighting effects.
I have also been reading up on the show. Unfortunately the closest one to me is in Virginia the same place I'll be seeing Radiohead the next day and I don't feel like making two trips or paying for a hotel room. The prospect of the tour intrigues me but I've heard little of the stage show other than the name. I just wonder exactly what the Glow in the Dark tour entails other than a light up jacket and whether that same energy couldn't be found during the day sans jacket.
If he finishes his show in Minneapolis at 11:00 or 11:30 they could probably have the show loaded out and trucks on the road by 3 or 4am. It is a 14.5 hour drive to Manchester. That makes it a 6:30ish arrival at Bonnaroo. Is that enough time to set up for Thursday night?
I dunno. Even if my numbers are off it's a tight schedule.

Like I said before, The Police played Las Vegas the night before they played Bonnaroo...
I haven't seen anything that explicitly said Phil & Friends and MMJ were playing on separate nights, but I've seen it referenced a few times in this thread. I didn't find anything specific checking today's site/email update, Pollstar, mmj.com or phillesh.net. Is that official somewhere, or is it just assumed that these two will be playing different nights.
To those of you who think Minneapolis to Bonnaroo is a problem, I can assure you it's not. Googling Minneapolis MN to Manchester TN gets: "945 mi – about 14 hours 38 mins" You know Kanye's gonna be sleeping in first class while one of his minions makes that drive. It's less than my personal one-day driving record, so it's definitely doable.
I think at best, Thursday will only have a headliner. If that were the case, i think it would be Kanye vs Levon maybe? I'd be a little surprised to find Kanye @ What stage.
The thing that makes me think that there will be a headliner though is that Friday headline for The Bonnaroo Beacon last year. Do you remember what it said?
I'd be happy for a Thursday late night, but man, i sure would be that much more exhausted come Sunday!!
I can't wait to see how wrong most of us are when the schedules finally get posted.

Since neither are known for their short sets and their both announced on the Which stage, it is to be assumed.

Well how else are they both going to play a late night slot on the Which Stage?? I really don't think they're playing at the same time on the same stage....

NERD is touring with Kanye? Damn, I'd love it if Pharrell would show up at Bonnaroo.
By the way, put me down for a Friday afternoon Kanye West set time. Glow in the dark jacket be damned. (Weren't the Roots on What Stage on Saturday afternoon last year?)
or maybe Kanye will pull a Mr. Burns and block out the sun.
If inforoo were a place of business, the kanye west set time would be the number one office pool. It's even better than March Madness.
