1. Kanye West just won a number of Grammys, including album of the year. 2. Kanye West's production generally requires a lot of room, for dancers/an orchestra/his big head 3. Kanye West is billed 4th on the line-up 4. Kanye West is Kanye West (tautology!) Therefore Kanye West will not be in a tent.
than you are saying he won't be playing his Glow in the Dark Show???
No, I don't see those words anywhere in my statement.
You could use my conclusion as a premise in another proof:
1. Kanye West will not be in a tent 2. Kanye West's "glow in the dark tour" demands that his show occur at night 3. All of the traditional night time stage slots are filled. Therefore Additional timeslots or stages must be instituted this year.

Or he could be playing a late night show on Thursday which would really not conflict much with the history of the festival or traffic flow...

I think Thursday's really likely. They've also been advertising Bonnaroo as a 4-day event, and that would be a big reason to pat themselves on the back about four days of quality music.

I will bet anyone here $100 that Kanye West does not play Thursday night.
I will also bet anyone here $100 that there will be no late night acts on the What Stage.
bet to be paid on site at Bonnaroo ;-)
I agree with you on both these points. Kanye is in Minnesota, on Wednesday, I don't think he hauls all the way to TN for a show Thursday night. That, in addition to the fact that people are still waiting to get in Thursday evening makes it very unlikely.
^^^I don't think they would really have to tamper with Thursday all that much to add Kanye to it. Just put him AFTER the tent shows when most everyone has arrived. So everyone gets to the festival a little earlier...I'm not sure how the increase in vendor activity would hurt anyone involved...
I wasn't the one that brought up the thing about Trey being in a tent, but, I did hear that there was quite a rush to the stage once word got out that he was playing.
There was. I had just got back to my tent and heard the show start since I was camped pretty close. as I made my way back into Cesteroo I heard people saying it was Phish, a rumor that would make all the hippies run to whatever tent/stage people are buzzing about. Of course it turned out to be GRAB, which had all the basics of Phish (instrument wise).

I think Kanye and Jack will overlap quite a bit. Kanye will come on as the sun is going down. Two headliners on Sunday? I could honestly see it. If Kanye wants to play at night, he will play at night.
People Bonnaroo changes every year. Until last year no one was ever scheduled to play during a headliner, and then the White Stripes had their overlapping timeslot with WSP. I think we will see both Jack and Kanye playing at night on Sunday.

I'm getting excited speculating on a show that I'm not that concerned with seeing... that's amazing.
yea, seriously, Kanye isn't even in my top 10. I would probably look for an excuse not to see him, but its still really interesting trying to dissect this year.

Or latenight What, thinking about this it actually seems the most reasonable.
I doubt they will open the What stage for late night sets. Having shows on the Which stage Thursday does seem like the best possibility.
Also remember, they did include Thursday as an official date unlike years past. I won't be surprised to see more happening this day. Just because Superfly did something one way before, doesn't mean they will do the same thing this year. Superjam has been late night the past 2 years, but it wasn't in years before that and I don't expect it to be a late night this year against MMJ and Phil.

I really think that if Kanye is on a stage it will be Thursday night. I don't know much about his stage setup for shows, but if he really does plan on bringing a boatload of dancers or an orchestra or anything it really cannot be in a tent. period.
Since Friday and Saturday late night which stages are set he will not be there. He won't be playing during a headliner because then it will take away from the prestige of the headliner. And I believe I've read somewhere that Bonnaroo doesn't have any late night main stage performances because of noise levels with the surrounding local community, which makes sense to me, but I have no proof of this so I could very easily be wrong.
Well jeez... I think i've just convinced myself that he's playing on Thursday. Not to mention, his website does have him scheduled to play Thursday which most of us (myself included) just disregarded as saying that's the starting day of the festival. Who knows at this point really... It sure is a lot of fun trying to figure out though! ;D ;D
Okay here are my thoughts about Kanye's placing. From an all-around music fan, and someone who isnt being Bonnaroocentric.
Kanye is one of the biggest stars on the lineup. Take a survey at your average college campus (which is the majority of the age of people that come to Bonnaroo). I guarantee more will be familiar with Kanye West than say....Jack Johnson or Robert Plant. Therefore there is no way possible, regardless of the general aim of Bonnaroo in the past, that Kanye West will play in a Tent.
Also, Kanye West has the biggest ego of any performer on Bonnaroo. I see no way at all he lets them stick him in a tent. I think at minimum, he will be on the What stage. He's much bigger than the Flaming Lips, String Cheese Incident, My Morning Jacket or even Phil Lesh, and thats where they're playing. Better? Thats opinion. But bigger? Absolutely.
Now that we have it narrowed down to 2 stages, lets talk about the time of day. Glow in the dark show, theres no question it will have to be at night. Otherwise it would just not work. Definitely either at a headlining time, or a Late Night. Theres no way he could put up a pre-headlining spot with the glow in the dark set. Its just not dark yet in the summer.
So we have it narrowed down to 2 stages. 2 slots. 4 Days. Well, we know he wont be on the What stage on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Those are for Metallica, Pearl Jam and Jack Johnson, respectively. Those are for-sure. We know he wont be on the Which stage on Friday or Saturday nights, because those are confirmed spots for My Morning Jacket and Phil Lesh, respectively. Assuming there wont be a Sunday late night (that would be absurd and wont happen), and assuming he wont be on the Which stage pre-headliner, (as I've determined, he won't be due to the glow in the dark set), that leaves just 6 possible, conceivable slots for Kanye:
Thursday, headlining time, What stage Thursday, headlining time, Which stage Thursday, late night, What stage Thursday, late night, Which Stage Friday, late night, What stage Saturday, late night, What stage
All of these would be Bonnaroo firsts (but what isn't this year?). They've never had a late night on the What Stage (as far as I know), and they've never had a Thursday set on the Which stage (as far as I know).
Also, because in his tour dates, Kanye West's site lists him as playing on Thursday, I would lean toward those 4 spots. Thus, I believe they are probably expanding the format of the Thursday shows.
