First Concert: CCR in '70 I think at Cincinnati Gardens. I don't remember it, but I have memories of having memories. Does that count? Needless to say the folks were with me.
Next Concert: Johnny Cash Maybe '74 or '75. Here with Parents again. Fort Wayne Memorial Coliseum. This one I definately remember.
First without Parental Influence: Iron Maiden, Rainbow, and .38 Special. 1981 to 1982 school year. I went to see Iron Maiden. What a strange line-up.
When I look back, it's amazing how much crap I saw in my years.
The one that changed it all: Grateful Dead '89 Soldier Field
First concert, dropped off by mom): Heads,Hands & Feet, Edgar Winter and Humble Pie Syracuse '72 $5.50
First big solo show: Grateful Dead, The Band and the Allman Bros Watkins Glen '73 $10
My son's first show with me was Collective Soul/Aerosmith, my daughter's was Keller Williams and my mom went with us to see the Dead four times. She had a ball...
Woah!!! Humble Pie in '72?! Nice! Were they touring with the Blackberries (their some-time back up signers)? Ahhhhh, Steve Marriott and Greg Ridley why did you have to die? why?!?!
Rush in '78. (Fly by Night Tour, I think) Ticket $7. 3/4 sleeve shirt $7 Been to 300-400 shows since. All my ticket stubs are plastered in a 3'x4' frame on my wall. In the next 4 weeks I'm seeing The Killers, The Shins, The Decemberists, and Rodrigo y Gabriela (Nashville is great for concerts!)

My first concert was Sister Hazel in 98 or 99 I believe... after that there was Lit. Hey, it was a free show. You just had to bring a few empty Sundrop bottles, lol. Worst. Show. EVER.
TOOL is 2002, phenomenal.
Then Slayer and Hatebreed at HOB. Tom Araya had to leave before the show, alcohol poisoning. LOL. So I didn't get to see "Slayer" but Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King played half the show with Hatebreed, impromptu, so that was awesome.
Most recent show was a couple years back, same HOB.
The Police, Tool, Widespread Panic, Ben Harper, Wilco, Ziggy Marley, The Roots, String Cheese, Ween, Old Crow. I think you get the picture, and yeah, this is my 1st time. Been wanting to go to this, since I heard of it about 5 years ago. Is it June yet??? Peace all.

That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age. ;D Bonnaroo is surely a good place to pop your cherry, as long as your prepared, which this site should help with.

I saw New Kids on the Block when I was in kindergarten. By the time I reached fourth grade, my tastes had improved. For my birthday, I begged and my parents (who aren't music fans) took me to see Eric Clapton.
ME: "Hey mom, what's that smell?" MOM: "Never mind. It's not for you."
My sister took me to my first show- Iron Butterfly with Blues Image opening. Was so excited that In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was 2 minutes longer than on the record! And so a jam geek was born.... 1st daughter's show- REM (Monster tour) 2nd daughter's show- Red Hot Chili Peppers (One Hot Minute) 3rd daughter's show- Phish @ Alpine Valley (when the hell was that?)
I'm relatively young and started out going to concerts at a late age (mother and step-dad= fanatical christians) But my first real concert was a festival in Columbia SC called Fall Out. It was in '03, I think... It was Zugg Island (worst show I've ever seen live or on tape) Rooney (decent stuff, fun pop) Powerman 5000 (was fun, but that stuff sucks... bad) Eve 6 (man, don't kill me, this show was free and I got really stoned...) and I think Default.
After that, I was kind of scared away from concerts. 2nd show was NIN, QOTSA, and Death From Above in 05.
Then Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith in 06.
And then Bonnaroo 06, and that just changed it all... ;0
I had been to a lot of local shows, but my first real concert, or at least one that I paid more than 5 bucks to see was Weezer with Jimmy Eat World and Sparta. Not a bad show, but would have much rather seen that tour when Tenacious D was in the Sparta spot. Next show was Ryan Adams at the Ryman. Oh man, what a show that was.
I was 15. We were on the balcony directly above the stage. I still vividly remember alot of it. I didn't see another show again until 1995 when i saw The Grateful Dead at Pyramid Arena on 4.2.95, and truth be told, that is the one that started my love for concerts.
616 - ha!
btw my b/friend was at that dead show - says it was phenomenal

my first concert was ELVIS PRESLEY in 1976 or '77. it was in Greensboro, NC. i was about 7 and my mom, aunt, great-aunt, and cousin were all crazy about Elvis. they dressed me up in a suit and took me along. i don't remember much except that the crowd was insane! everytime he threw a towel into the audience it looked like it was being eaten by barracudas.
first concert without a parent: KISS - Greensboro 1985
wife's first concert was with me: Crosby, Stills, & Nash - Roanoke 1990
my first stadium concert: Grateful Dead/Sting at RFK 1993
son's almost first concert (he was in utero): Santana - Carowinds 1995
son and daughter's first concert: Charlie Daniels Band at Victory Stadium 2002
first show just me & my son: KISS/Poison - Charlotte 2004
my first festival (kind of): Lollapalooza - Raleigh 1991
my first ever cocnert was ani difranco. its wasss soooooo ill. she's nasty at guitar, i still dig her a lot, but don't listen to ehr near as mcuh as i used to
first one was warped tour...dont remember the year and i might be mixing and matching different summers, but i watched bad religion, 311, nofx, vandals, suicide machines, AFI, reel big fish, unwritten law, and others

First band ever was KISS back in the late 70's. I was 6 or 7. I cried and cried until my mom broke down and bought tickets from a scalper. I still remember bits and pieces from the show.
Years later, she told me that we were on the balcony and that it took everything she had in her to keep me from falling over the railing. Said that the people below us were firing it up lots and when she brought me home, put me on the couch, that I was a vegetable...so a double first for me I guess.

Sly & The Family Stone - Omaha Civic Auditorium, 1972
I was there with two or three friends, all of us around 12 or 13. A couple of us had our little sisters (around 11). If my parents (or my friends parents) had any idea what the concert would be like, they never would have let us go.

String Cheese Incident at the Fox theatre in Boulder in 1996
My sister had just moved to boulder after she graduated college and I was the ripe young age of 8. It was also a 21+ show but my sister used to be buddies with the band/dated Jamie Janover for a bit and he is still really close with those guys. Now I go to school at CU boulder and can't get into the 21+ shows! Funny how these things work out
1st show: bon jovi w/ cinderella opener 1985 at cincinnati gardens 15th row. 5th grade with dad and big sis.
1st show with friends: steve miller band 1990 at nutter center front row center. stayed up all night on tiny square pieces of paper to get tix. stupid freshman.
some other notables: beasties w/ ice cube n lynch mob and rollins band 1990 page n plant (2wice n same tour) '91, '92 ?? plant (solo tour) rush a few times woodstock '94 peter Gabriel a couple yrs ago ('05??) wolfmother 2 nights ago
and tons in between! man, ain't nothing better than live music!! bring on the ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Wow you all had really great musical tastes at such a young age. And seem to have very cool parents too. My parents still don't get my love for music/live shows but that probably has to do with them not being from this country originally.
I think I get the award for most embarrassing first concert: NSYNC...I was in 8th grade I think. Ahh please don't hate me.
haha my first was third eye blind way back. It actually wasn't that bad and I got to crowd surf....which was strange for third eye blind but it was at a raceway so go figure.
ok my wife spoke up earlier now its my turn.got the nsync beat ,,,,donnie and marie at nine years old..first by myself was grand funk railroad opening for the doobie brothers and i was hooked after that,,,to many to list
