I guess Im showing my age but my first concert was in 1972. Get this, Lynyrd Skynryd, ZZ Top, and Peter Frampton (who had jsut left Humble Pie) was the headliner. This was at the Univ of Louisville football stadium. Nobody had ever heard of Skynyrd not many of us had heard of ZZ Top.
^haha, that sucks. i think i was about one of five kids at my middle school that realized blink 182 sucked. ALthough I do like a few songs by THe Transplants (Travis Barkers band) like one song feat. the Boo Ya Tribe called What I Cant Describe.

Rage against the machine, and wu-tang clan at merriweather post pavilion, i dont know something like 96 maybe?
sammy o and i saw this show here in Chicago, GREAT show, except for Atari Teenage Riot, they blew balls. Wu Tang was crazy, it was august, it was 100 degrees, yet they were still wearing big ass down jackets.....odd
I was 15. We were on the balcony directly above the stage. I still vividly remember alot of it. I didn't see another show again until 1995 when i saw The Grateful Dead at Pyramid Arena on 4.2.95, and truth be told, that is the one that started my love for concerts.
wow I was at that dead show and I saw Helmet at 616 it was 93 or 94 I can't remember. small world....
First concert was John Kay and Steppenwolf in 1998, I believe was the year. 2nd concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd the next night.
My first concert was Steppenwolf too. However, it was in '68 or '69 in Littlejohn Coleseum at Clemson University. We drove all the way from Columbia, SC. I'm afraid I don't remember too much 'cause by the time i8thebrown*cidx2 I had to be led down the steep steps one by one. Finally made it to the floor right in front of the band tho' and I knew I was.... born to be wild! (sorry, i just couldn't resist the bad pun). It was way groovy, man.
Well, that was my back in the day, folks. Now I am looking forward to going to my first 'roo in '07. My daughter's friends talked me into going.

Welcome! I can't explain how cool I think it is that your daughter's friends' opinions carry that much weight with you! Very Cool! You are, without a doubt, going to have THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!! Hope to see you there!

1997, just after high school graduation... saw The Who on their Quadrophenia tour at Tinley Park / Chicago. Very possibly changed my life.
I think I'm the fourth person who has posted on this thread who saw the Who on that 1997 Quadrophenia tour when they came near Charlotte. That was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.
The first concert I ever saw that my parents took me to.. can't remember how old I was, but I was little...the one, the only...
SHA NA NA!!!! If only the Unknown Comic had been there as well.
How great is that someone reading this is wondering who the hell Sha Na Na and/or the Unknown Comic are. God bless the semi-old school.
The first show I went to without the parents was years later - Lollapalooza 1996 with Metallica, Soundgarden, Rancid, Rage Against the Machine and the Ramones on their farewell tour. Great show.
One of the guys I went with is also heading out to Bonnaroo with me this year, which is nice since that means after all this time we're alive and well and not in some cell.
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."

^ Random but funny:
My gf and I were walking home from a deli (where I had that good-ass sandwich) and heard/saw/walked past a guy just rockig/jamming/pumping "UpTown Girl"(from his loud, expensive and well EQd car stereo)! He was a young guy with expensive sunglasses and his hat cocked sideways just getting the hell down to Billy Joel! It just tickled us absolutely f*cking pink!
Pink Floyd, Carter Finley Stadium, Raleigh North Carolina, 1987/88. Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour. I was 17. First trip too. That was the night I got grounded for two weeks.

My first concert was when I was still a baby and it was The Grateful Dead and Violent Femmes.
Of course, I don't remember that. My godfather was in the band Luxury, and I saw them a lot when I was 12 or so. The first concert I ever paid to go to was Sugarcult, Mae, and Maxeen in the basement of Atlanta's Tabernacle.
My first concert was one of the probably 20 or so oldies concerts that my parents used to cart me around to (ah, the joys of being an only child!) so if they sang in the 50's or the 60's and are still alive I probably have seen them
I hear that. First show was Sha Na Na sometime in the 80's with mommy and daddy
Second show was also First Festival - Lollapalooza 1993
First band ended up being Rage Against the Machine - which was about the most badass thing I could imagine at age 16.
Note: I also attended Lollapalooza 94 and 96... I just looked at wikipedia for the lineups and I hardly remember seeing half these bands in 96! Too many druqks.
