first show period: Stevie Ray Vaughan - 1988 @ Poplar Creek, I was eight years old, and my dad was the biggest SRV fan, and he took me to show me what "real" music was.
wow, that's awesome!
i saw some Christian bands back in the day, but my first real concert was either the Stones or Elvis Costello, can't remember who came first. But my dad took me to both, he is a big fan. I've been trying to get him to go see MMJ with me.

Man, I didn't know that so many people ever went to concerts with their parents. That would've never occured to me...or my parents. I guess you guys had cooler parents than me.

First concert i went to with my parents was collective soul and the cranberries. My dad had free tickets or something, that was the only one i went with my parents to. Then i think my first concert alone was DMB.

I saw Phil Collins and Joe Satriani in '89 don't remember which was first but those were the first 2 concerts I went to. Phil Collins was an arena concert at the Rosemont Horizon, Satriani was at the Aragon Brawlroom...
wow, that was 19 years ago... I've been to a lot of concerts since then!!
People definitely have some respectable first concerts. Its good to know that people that know music have known good music since the beginning.
My first concert was REM at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, I was in 10th Grade (14?), it was the Green tour (1990ish), they were my very favoritest band at the time.

They Might Be Giants, summer of '96, at the Fairfax Fair in Fairfax, VA. My mom took my bro, myself and a few of our friends, and we all loved it (my mom is still into them, I always make her a copy of whatever new material they put out). I don't see why a concert doesn't count just cause you went with your folks, so I'm leaving my post at that.

Around '97ish I went with my Dad to the closing of Lucy's here in Nashville. I guess it was an oldskool club and it was a big deal because a shit ton of people were there. The Teen Idols played.

first concert was gwar i was in the 8th grade, lied to my parenst said i was spending the night at a friends house, we actually were friends with the girl who they feed to the giant cockroach
I was 15. We were on the balcony directly above the stage. I still vividly remember alot of it. I didn't see another show again until 1995 when i saw The Grateful Dead at Pyramid Arena on 4.2.95, and truth be told, that is the one that started my love for concerts.

Genesis at Wembley Stadium in London. I was 18 and it was the first time I had experienced anything that amazing. I made sure my daughter got started much earlier than I did on live music and started taking her to Dead, Phish and DMB shows from the time she was 2
